Hello and Welcome to My Faith Expressions.

Oh what joy it is to be found in Christ Jesus. He is the keeper of my soul. He is the keeper of your soul. He is so awesome to us!

Word of Hope for Today:

When we don’t quite understand His ways, we have an opportunity to walk by faith and not by sight. Keep walking!

God is doing some miraculous things. In the midst of that will be what appears to be minor and sometimes major setbacks, but don’t lose focus of the mighty hand of God.

Isaiah 55:8-13 (NLT) says,
8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
12 You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song,
and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
13 Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow.
Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up.
These events will bring great honor to the Lord’s name;
they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.”

Like me, perhaps you have also been praying and asking God to change some troubling situations in your life. For me it has been in my dealings with my prodigal son that have caused me to seek God for direction and help; for the Lord to change the state of affairs and correct the things that are wrong. It has been a long road, with many major setbacks and what have seemed to be complete reversals after knowingly witnessing the miraculous move of God. When it appeared as though God had worked a miracle, things often flipped in an instant and returned to the status quo, sometimes even worse than the original issue or complaint. I must admit that this particular process has been quite confusing on some days; yet, I have continued to trust God.

During times like these, not only with dealing with my prodigal, but in any situation that life throws my way, it has been important that I cultivate my faith in God. I cannot go by what I see, but I am to only look to God, the Creator of all, and believe that His ways are best and that all of the constantly changing pieces will align, and that in that process, I will continue to see God. I have had to constantly remind myself that, indeed, as God’s Word says, God’s thoughts are nothing like my thoughts and His ways are far beyond anything that I can imagine. His ways ARE higher than my ways and His thoughts higher than my thoughts. I cannot continue to look at what I am seeing with natural eyes and think that this is it. End of story. No resolution. Why? Because that simply is not true.

I must stop with all the questions that try to hinder God from being God. He must operate according to His ways, not mine.

God can and will change any circumstance if we will hold out and see what the end will be. At our moment of wanting to throw in the towel, we must persevere beyond our feelings, even beyond our own thought processing and say, “God, I really don’t get this one at all. I don’t understand why I must go this particular path and seemingly have to circle back around umpteen times, but I will not continue to ask questions. I will, without further hesitation, put my faith in You.”

No Questions! Seek God! See God! This is my final decision.

We have all been called by God to do something that aligns us with His greater purpose. With some individuals, it is easier to see the calling on someone’s life because of the evidence of mighty gifts and talents that you know exist only through the miraculous manifestation through Jesus Christ. It is obvious to us, but often hidden from those who possess them, because Satan has attempted to blind them to the truth.

But God!

He can remove the scales from their eyes, from our eyes, and cause us to see clearly what we have been ignoring for so long.

So, it’s confession time. Not by intentional choice, but out of a mother’s heart and wanting the best for my son, I have found myself getting off of my spiritual fight pattern because I wanted to see immediate changes. I have talked until I was blue in the face, and most times, unfortunately, it went in one ear and out of the other. However, I truly believe that it was not all in vain, as his soul heard the words of truth and have kept him from literally falling off the edge of life, but his will, the stubborn one that resides within, has, in contrast, kept him from walking in the truth when it was presented.

Knowing that we cannot fight spiritual battles with human resolutions, the following Scripture has become my family’s prayer for him.

Ephesians 1:18 (NIV) says,
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,

We must pray that God enlightens the eyes of a sinner’s heart so that they may know the hope to which he/she has been called. We all have a glorious inheritance that is readily available to us, but we must see it as such and be willing to claim what is rightfully ours. We have been, at times, walking around as if we have nothing, living in spiritual poverty, when we have everything, an abundance, riches beyond measure, through the actions of Jesus Christ. What He endured on the cross so that we could become the holy people of God put us in the position to inherit what we did not earn. Because of the love of our Heavenly Father, we have been given what we do not deserve. We just have to stop asking questions and walk in it for ourselves or, with regard to others, stop asking questions and allow God to work in and through them as He sees fit.

A rash of events have recently transpired in the life of my son. Many have personally affected my life and the way that I am able to operate in it. This caused numerous questions to instantly come to mind. You know the main one. Why God why? Some additional things have fallen apart, but I am seeing God in them all. I have decided not to question God because He knows what is best. Through these recent events, my son has found himself in a place where reconnecting with His family is a move that will benefit him. But I cannot look at that as, “Oh, he is just coming around because he needs help”, because let’s face it, sometimes even when people need help and they know it and are at their absolute lowest point, and this has been the case with my son in the past, they still resist help and continue to walk in pride. So, when a person begins to come around, and they will because all things are possible with God, we must stop asking questions and choose to see God in it. God sometimes has to get them in a place of tremendous need, so that He can get them to be still long enough for Him to begin to soften their heart and give them an ear to hear.

We cannot question God as it relates to our discomfort within the situation, but we must look at the bigger picture and ask, “God, is this serving your greater purpose?”

My son has now reconnected with his grandpa and his uncle, both who are pastor’s and great mentors in the faith. He needs this guidance and direction so that he can begin to move forward. They are simply showering him with love and trying to provide direction for the next steps in life. They see the calling on his life, as well, but also recognize that unless God enlightens the eyes of his heart, what they want for him, what I want for him, will not be so.

We cannot force anything on anyone. It is God who breaks every yoke and changes the heart of men.

My son was driving several days ago and he must have hit something in the road and his tire blew up (if that’s the right terminology LOL). He was able to safely make it home. He placed the spare tire on the car and resumed his life. As he was heading wherever he was heading, another tire blew out as he was driving. Ok! So, I’m not sure where he was heading, but maybe, just maybe, it was some place that God was saying he no longer needed to go.

He went to the tire place first thing Monday morning and replaced the two tires and had to also get two new wheels or rims or whatever. Y’all know more about this than I do. LOL He did not have enough money, so he called me and asked me to call His grandpa, as I work in another city. This is the grandpa that pretty much raised him who he has been avoiding. When you are running from God, sometimes this causes you to avoid those with whom you know truth will come from because you are not quite ready to listen. Being the loving grandpa that he is, even after calling and texting with no response from my son, he jumped up to help him. When God gives us an opening, we have to put our feelings aside and go, even if it costs us a little something, because that may be our chance to do the will of the Father and cause a transition in someone’s life. Greater purpose, remember?

So, my son was feeling good and on the road again. I didn’t hear from my son until the next morning. No worries. He’s 23, so hearing from him every second of the day is never gonna happen. LOL

When I heard from him on Tuesday morning, he told me that a semi-truck almost ran him off the road. The car had scrapped up against the concrete median on the side of the road. It dented the back door and back bumper and completely knocked the car door handle off. But, not a scratch on my son. So, this is 3 incidents in two days. When we are getting close to our OVERWHELMING VICTORY, which has been my continuous prayer over my son’s life, Satan will show up and will try to bring destruction. But God’s hand of protection will keep us safe because He has a plan that will prevail.

So, my son met up with my dad that day to help him out with some things. Now this is a miracle right there, as he had stopped coming around, completely. I was the only person that he would have contact with. But, what next you might ask? My son locked his only key in his trunk. He has never done that before. Perhaps that was God trying to keep him from heading wherever he was heading after helping my dad. What did that do? It delayed him. Delays could be God’s way of protecting us, so in them, let’s not get frustrated.

I know this is turning into a very long story and post, but I need you to see the protective hand of God and realize that questioning Him could hinder the process. We must let God be God and work through life’s circumstances to bring about change. Getting our attention, however He can, is sometimes necessary in order to move forward.

So, my dad calls a tow truck and pays for them to get my son’s key out of the trunk. On the road again, he goes. I’m still not sure where he is attempting to go next. God is trying to break him free by connecting him with my dad, but I’m not sure that my son is seeing the big picture, yet.

So, of course my phone rings in less than 30 minutes. “Mom, the car is gone! It’s been totaled!”. Wow! Satan was literally trying to take my son out of here over the past few days. I believe this is so, but God said no! My son was in an accident that completely destroyed that demonic car that Satan was trying to use. Why? I think when I stopped questioning God about stuff and let Him move, His plan was set into motion to change the course and direction of my son’s life. Regardless of whatever Satan attempted in the process, God had his hand on the situation the whole time.

My son told my dad that just what occurred in his life, which culminated in that automobile accident that totaled his car, which, once again, he walked away from without a scratch and no one else was harmed, he knows that it was supposed to happen that way. It was the eyes of his heart beginning to be enlightened. God spared his life, yet again, for a purpose.

Through the years, my son has gotten several tattoo’s. Not quite what I would have wanted as his mom who liked him just as he was LOL, but this was his way of expressing himself when he was going through various trials. I choose to see his heart, not any representation that was placed on his body when he was not always listening to the voice of God. When he got into this accident, he said the only thing he saw on his body was one of the many tattoo’s that was swollen and red. The tattoo said, “Learn the Lesson”.

I am choosing to believe that my son is being enlightened by the hand of God and that the lesson’s that God has attempted to teach him through this multiple year process are starting to be revealed to him. I have invited him to worship service this evening (this past Wednesday when I am writing this). I, by faith am believing that he is going to come. I have faith. I believe. His mouth has said yes, and I am trusting that God will cause his heart and his feet to follow suit.

(FYI – it is now Thursday. He came. Praise the Lord! This is the child that grew up in church and has been recently saying he is not coming back, where his inheritance lies. God can! God will! God is!)
(FYI – it is now Friday. He put in several job applications on Thursday, received a call a couple hours later and they said he had a job. No interview. Just, “we need hard workers. Orientation is tomorrow and you will start on Monday.”)

What is it that I need to do in this particular circumstance? What is it that you need to do in what you face in life? Stop asking questions and let God do what is best. Trust and believe that God is doing what we asked, according to His will, and we will rejoice in knowing that God’s way breaks every chain. Let’s take our hands off of it and sit back and watch God move.

Expect great things and look for God in everything!

I am choosing to see God in all things and to trust that total deliverance and breakthrough is here, right now for my son. Every chain is broken. Every curse of the enemy is reversed. OVERWHELMING VICTORY IN JESUS NAME! AMEN! This is true in Your life, as well.

  1. Wow. Even though there are lots of lessons here, all I’m stuck on is the motherly love. The kind of love that God keeps at with us.

Your attitude towards his tattoos are also amazing! I know we Christians can tend to be overbearing in our approach to others who are liberal in actions. But Christ kind of love must always be in the mix, and in fact, the driving force.

    1. Thank you! Yes, what I have learned is that God will allow us to face certain things in our personal lives to truly humble us and allow us to see nothing but a person’s soul, which is truly what He intends for us. We are then able to see beyond the external and attempt to connect to their heart. A lot of these situations are not to break us or disappoint us, but as you said, to teach us to love like Christ. When we go through things it builds our level of compassion. It definitely doesn’t always feel good, but also as you said, the lessons learned are amazing. Thank you for reading my blog and for commenting. Have a blessed day or evening wherever you are!
