“She” could be me. “She” could be you. “She” could be “he”, but at some point, I believe, “she” has been all of us.

SCENARIO:

She is in a room full of people. Everyone is smiling and laughing and seems to truly be enjoying life. She has so much to say, so much to share; but as usual, she feels so alone and believes that no one will ever understand her plight. Life looks good, but on the inside, many a conversation is being had. She tries to reason things out and determine within herself that everything will turn out right because she believes. But what is she believing in? Herself? Her will to hang on and figure everything out on her own or is she believing in the ONLY ONE who has the answers to her very questions and who knows her like no other?

QUESTION:

Who do you turn to when you feel all alone?

Now that she no longer needed the extra boost, she was left feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by the release that was taking place in her life. She began a period of shutdown. It wasn’t on purpose, mind you, but more of an empty feeling that could not really be described to anyone.

God had did it! He had answered her very heart’s desire. Now what?

Hello and Welcome to My Faith Expressions.

“God, I’m ready. I need You to deliver and set me free. Only You can fix it, Jesus. I give You everything.”

Have you ever uttered such words, sometimes even on a repeat cycle? You may be at your lowest point with nowhere to turn and you are finally ready for God to take full control. The stretch of land before You is full of darkness and You desperately seek to enter Your promised land.

From one Christ follower to another, been there! Done that! Got the T-Shirt, well drawers full, to prove it. Once you are ready to hand it all over to God, I am here to encourage you and to let you know that He is ready and waiting. God has made a way. Change is now. You are headed in the right direction. You can regain yourself.

Regaining Myself

If I want to remain at the table of God’s blessings that He has prepared for me, then I need to make the necessary adjustments so that I don’t fall back into old emotional patterns. God has really been doing some amazing things in my life. The possibilities are amazing!

What once seemed impossible, is made possible with and because of God!

I had to make it to a point where I said Yes to God. “Here I am at the point of change and deliverance, Lord. Will I stay here or will I trust You to move me forward by means of Your desire for me as You part the Red Sea that sets before me? Will I cross over into the abundance of great things You have already prepared for me as long as I follow Your instructions and plan?”

Yes! Yes, I will!

Word of Hope for Today:

What appears to be closed in our lives can be opened when we follow closely and are ready to receive our deliverance.

During His earthly ministry, Jesus performed many a miracle in the presence of others. They had no reason to doubt but every reason to believe; yet, many still did not see who He really was. They never experienced the full benefits of having a personal relationship that included acceptance of, trust in, and obedience to Christ.

Let’s take a quick look at the story of Jesus healing a deaf and dumb man, making him physically whole, and see how this can apply to our personal lives.

You have a couple options. If the first one doesn’t work, it appears that things will not be restored.

God wants to fit into every space within Your heart. Will you let Him in?

MY FAITH EXPRESSIONS

Hello and Welcome to My Faith Expressions.

It’s another day! It’s another grand opportunity to make room for God. Is there anything that you need to release so God can fit right in?

Word of Hope for Today:

It’s Never Too Late for Your Dreams to Come True. God is Still Changing Lives for the Better. Finish the Process.

Have you ever tried to make something fit when it really didn’t? You are just becoming exhausted while you are pushing and trying to maneuver things into place according to your perspective of the layout for your life. I know I have done this and probably looked a tad bit crazy doing it. Hey, it probably happened again this week. 🙂 I knew it wouldn’t work; but, in the moment, I refused to give up on “my” dream of making it so.

Sometimes, we make decisions and we know they are the wrong ones. It’s so obvious to us and those around us that what is happening to us does not fit with God’s will. Nevertheless, because we don’t want to look as though we have failed or we don’t know what we are doing, we refuse to step away and take our hands off of it. We won’t let God remove it and give us better; what He knows will work and fit into our lives.

Well, rare for where I work, as this never happens. I realized that someone might have been looking out for the next person who would arrive, sending down from above what was needed to carry them up to the next level. This rarity of forethought is not always visible to us. It’s almost unrecognizable in the world that we live in; this me, myself, and I world. This small gesture shows great compassion for one’s fellowman (woman) and can be placed within the category of being a servant; looking out for others and thinking beyond one’s self. I instantly became excited about what God was showing me in the moment.

RULES:

  1. Use the sunshine blogger award logo
  2. Give thanks to the blogger that nominated you
  3. Answer the 11 questions given to you
  4. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions

********************

Here are DeborahMarie’s Questions for me:

  1. Are you an owl or a lark?  (stay up late or early riser)

I am definitely an early riser, but then again, I think I also stay up late with a few cat naps during the evening. I don’t know how I do it, but I often function off of probably 5 hours of sleep. It’s not that I do not want to sleep, but often my brain stays awake, if you know what I mean. LOL

  1. What do you do for fun?

My life right now is dedicated to helping a loved one reach their full potential in life, so I don’t do much right now outside of working, attending weekly church services, and pouring into him (my son). I do enjoy watching tv, more so old shows from the 80’s and 90’s (dating myself); but that is when tv was really good. I love a good reboot. Of course, I enjoy reading books, but I find it more difficult to do so during the warmer summer months. But hey, fall and winter, are right around the bend (I know! I know! Don’t mention it! :-)) and I have plenty of books stacked up to get me through those months. I’m sure that I will read something interesting to share with you.

  1. What are your spiritual gifts?

If I had to pick a few, I think teaching would be one, although I haven’t yet put that gift into full action. I need confidence in that area in public settings, that is where blogging has become beneficial to me because I believe that I am able to exercise that gift through the Holy Spirit, this way, and reach others, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and prayerfully I am being used by God to glorify Him. Others would be discernment, faith, and wisdom. I’m a little different, or so I have always thought, but I believe it’s because of the wisdom that God has given to me. I try to share that with others when asked for direction. I pray that when I have something of substance to say that it benefits others and is a part of God’s plan to guide their lives.

  1. Have you made Jesus the Lord of your life? If so, how did it happen?

Yes, I have. I grew up in the church. I have been a Pastor’s daughter for 39 years. That was not always easy. I will just leave it there. LOL So, I’ve always known who Jesus is, but I would have to say in my later 20s is when I made my own decision to really trust God and walk according to His will for me. It was no longer based on just what I was taught and being a certain way because I felt like I had to be, but more because I wanted to experience His grace and mercy within my life on a daily basis and personal level. It’s been a process and the older I get, the more I understand Him. Life’s experiences will definitely teach you who God really is in your own life.

  1. Do you have a life verse?  If so, what is it, and why?

My go to verses for this season are:

Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

  1. What is your favorite characteristic about yourself?

This one is a little tough. You know we are our worst critics. But, I believe that I am an understanding and compassionate person. I don’t know if everyone around me sees my heart, but, I try to find the good in every person and every situation. Sometimes when life gets a little intense, it is hard to do so, but then I bounce back and I look for God in everything. I’m a work in progress.

  1. What is one valuable lesson you have learned in life?

Never doubt God. Waiting is part of His plan, as it is causing spiritual growth and the ability to help others who may have to walk this same path as me. His “No’s” mean there is better coming and some seemingly “No” answers are just “Not Yet”; so, don’t get frustrated. Shake off those negative feelings. Don’t give up. Believe in the God of the impossible.

  1. When did you know you were a writer?

I always had pen and paper with me, most times, growing up. I get that from my mother. LOL I have always been sort of an introvert (hey that’s the next question), so writing was always my better method of expressing myself. I am also a visual person, so writing allows me to see it and that helps when trying to recall things to apply to my life circumstances.

  1. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

Introvert, with some extrovert tendencies depending on the crowd. LOL

  1. Do you dread or look forward to your birthday?

I don’t dread it (I’ll be 48 next week), but I also don’t make a big fuss. I’m not much for a lot of attention (see #9). LOL

  1. Which do you prefer:  city or country, fried or baked, sweet or salty, book or movie, drive or fly, cook or takeout?

City, Fried, Salty, Book and Movie, Drive (if I’m not going to get stuck in traffic), Fly (if the flight is non-stop – One flight up and down to get there and One flight up and down to get back; therefore, I will drive further to get to a larger airport), Takeout, but the budget often says Cook. LOL

Here are “My Faith Expressions” Questions for me:

  1. What prompted you to begin blogging?
  2. What do you most want to get across to others in your writing?
  3. What is your favorite time of the day (morning, afternoon, evening) and why?
  4. What makes you laugh (medicine for the soul) or brings you the most joy here on earth?
  5. Do you prefer the outdoors or the indoors? Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter?
  6. What are your two most favorite activities?
  7. What is the last book that you read or movie that you enjoyed?
  8. If you could write a two to three sentence blog directly to heaven, what would you say?
  9. What is your go to Bible Translation and what passage of Scripture speaks to you today?
  10. If you could choose only one food item to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be? It could be a specific dish or style of food (Chinese, American, Italian, French, Mexican, etc…).
  11. Did you enjoy this question/answer process?

God, I’m Not Sure

Look for God in all situations. He’s there, even when you feel stuck and just aren’t sure. It’s a great day to trust God. He has all power in his hand. He knows what is best and He will bring you out of any storm and place your feet on solid ground. What a mighty God He is! Distractions may come, but you can trust God to fulfill His purpose. The things that we may call distractions, perhaps God has allowed those to stop us in our tracks so that we will take the time to seek after Him. Even when we are confused about what to do next and just aren’t sure, we can always feel our way toward God and find Him, though He is not ever far from any one of us […]

MY FAITH EXPRESSIONS

Hello and Welcome to My Faith Expressions.

It’s a great day to trust God. He has all power in his hand. He knows what is best and He will bring you out of any storm and place your feet on solid ground. What a mighty God He is!

Word of Hope for Today:

Distractions may come, but you can trust God to fulfill His purpose.

My blog posts tend to alternate between Intentional Prayer, a little bit of teaching based on my understanding of God’s Word through the revelation that He gives to me and through my day-to-day application and lessons learned, and a sprinkle of personal testimony to encourage another, in order to let someone, anyone know that they are not alone. As I look back, I realized that this week’s posts were mainly directed towards Intentional Prayers to God. Why, I asked myself? Because this past week, I had several moments of just not being sure. What did I do when I felt this way? I turned to prayer, where I could get some relief and hear from God. I chose to quiet myself and turn to Him.

When you just don’t know what to do, turn to God in prayer.

The other day, I had one of “those” days. I must admit that I was having a hard time focusing. I was not being very productive. I was what you may call mentally distracted. I cleaned off my desk and dusted a bit. I logged into some systems, so that they were up on my monitor, but I could not seem to get truly focused. I am kind-of between projects, so thank God that my moment of difficulty really was not hindering the progress of those around me. I could have gotten a jump on some things, but my wandering thoughts would not allow me to do so.

You see, I wasn’t really moving forward in my day or being very fruitful. I was just kind of putting in time, trying to make it to lunch, then trying to make it to my departure time. I really had nothing that I needed to rush home to, but I was allowing some of the cares of life to dictate my day. It wasn’t that I was “overly” worried or really burdened down, as has been the case on other occasions, but I felt a bit defeated because things were not progressing as I would have preferred. Thinking on these things had me hemmed up in a corner where nothing else really seemed to matter in the moment. I wasn’t going backward, but I also wasn’t moving forward. I was in a state of “blah”-ness, if you will (I know it’s really not a word).

In your deepest, darkest place of pain, God can and will use it for His gain, then He’ll turn your pain into Overwhelming Victory.

MY FAITH EXPRESSIONS

pain_gain_280258404_larger

Through your lowest valley, God’s saving hand of mercy is still moving all around you. As He did with the life of Paul, let Him use your life for good.

After Paul’s conversion, He visited many cities where he preached the Word of the Lord. He had a heart for new believers and wanted them to continue in the faith. During a part of his ministry, Paul chose Silas to travel with him with the goal of strengthening the churches.

Acts 16:16-18 (NLT) says,
16 One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to tell the future. She earned a lot of money for her masters by telling fortunes. 17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.”
18 This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her.

Here, Paul demonstrates great faith in the power of the name of Jesus Christ. In boldness, he commanded that this demon come out of her, not by his own power, but by the power of the name of Jesus Christ. What happened? God’s word says that “instantly it left her”.

When our words are backed by the power of Jesus Christ, demons have to flee. Nothing that comes against us can stand up to this great name. But also, our lives must be aligned with the will and Word of God. We cannot be living any kind of way and expect the power of God to be working in and through our lives. Paul was doing what he was called to do. He was on a mission to strengthen others in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He had lived a previous horrible life of sin, but once he made up his mind to live for Christ, he gave his all to the ministry, as well as to his purpose that God had placed in him. As a result, he was able to speak the name of Jesus Christ and obtain immediate visible results of the move of God.

MY FAITH EXPRESSIONS

Hello and Welcome to My Faith Expressions.

Oh what joy it is to be found in Christ Jesus. He is the keeper of my soul. He is the keeper of your soul. He is so awesome to us!

Word of Hope for Today:

When we don’t quite understand His ways, we have an opportunity to walk by faith and not by sight. Keep walking!

God is doing some miraculous things. In the midst of that will be what appears to be minor and sometimes major setbacks, but don’t lose focus of the mighty hand of God.

Isaiah 55:8-13 (NLT) says,
8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
12 You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song,
and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
13 Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow.
Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up.
These events will bring great honor to the Lord’s name;
they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.”

Like me, perhaps you have also been praying and asking God to change some troubling situations in your life. For me it has been in my dealings with my prodigal son that have caused me to seek God for direction and help; for the Lord to change the state of affairs and correct the things that are wrong. It has been a long road, with many major setbacks and what have seemed to be complete reversals after knowingly witnessing the miraculous move of God. When it appeared as though God had worked a miracle, things often flipped in an instant and returned to the status quo, sometimes even worse than the original issue or complaint. I must admit that this particular process has been quite confusing on some days; yet, I have continued to trust God.

During times like these, not only with dealing with my prodigal, but in any situation that life throws my way, it has been important that I cultivate my faith in God. I cannot go by what I see, but I am to only look to God, the Creator of all, and believe that His ways are best and that all of the constantly changing pieces will align, and that in that process, I will continue to see God. I have had to constantly remind myself that, indeed, as God’s Word says, God’s thoughts are nothing like my thoughts and His ways are far beyond anything that I can imagine. His ways ARE higher than my ways and His thoughts higher than my thoughts. I cannot continue to look at what I am seeing with natural eyes and think that this is it. End of story. No resolution. Why? Because that simply is not true.

I must stop with all the questions that try to hinder God from being God. He must operate according to His ways, not mine.

Wisdom, The Missing Piece

How do you typically respond when someone offers you words of wisdom and Godly advice for the situations that you deal with on a daily basis? Are you full of pride? Do you reject this advice? Are you not receptive to help? Does conflict or disagreement arise while you are, perhaps, fighting to be right? Proverbs 13:10 (NIV) says, “Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” How often and sad it is when people, when I, try to do everything on my own without proper resources to handle the situation. The main reason: WISDOM. This often makes situations worse, and the time spent cleaning up the mess, just to get back to square one, is so exhausting and unnecessary […]

What could be resolved with Godly advice, if left up to our own ways, can quite possibly turn into nightmares when we allow our pride to hinder us from receiving what we need to successfully move forward.

Proverbs 13:10 (NIV) says,
Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

How often and sad it is when people, when I, try to do everything on my own without proper resources to handle the situation. The main resource: WISDOM. This often makes situations worse, and the time spent cleaning up the mess, just to get back to square one, is so exhausting and unnecessary.

As we walk this walk, it is important to remember that pride is destructive. What can be resolved with Godly advice, if left up to our own ways, can quite possibly turn into nightmares when we allow our pride to hinder us from receiving what we need to successfully move forward.

Proverbs 16:18 (NLT) says,
Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.
