Disconnected? Make Some Adjustments and Get Your Focus Back

Have you ever been in a room full of people, excitement happening all around you, laughter ensuing, joy appearing to be on everyone’s face, but yet, you feel so disconnected, possibly even lost? When this happens in my life, and it occasionally does, recognizing these unwanted guests of emotions, which show up uninvited, allows room for God’s healing to take place in those areas within my life. It allows for honest assessment of the adjustments that may still need to take place, so that I may continuously walk in the Victory that is already mine through Christ Jesus. How do I handle this? Have you ever been in a room full of people, excitement happening all around you, laughter ensuing, joy appearing to be on everyone’s face, but yet, you feel disconnected, possibly even lost?

When this happens in my life, which it occasionally does, recognizing these unwanted guests of emotions, which show up uninvited, allows room for God’s healing to take place in those areas within my life. It allows for honest assessment of the adjustments that may still need to take place, so that I may continuously walk in the Victory that is already mine through Christ Jesus.

How do I handle this? I separate myself for a bit, make some adjustments, and get my focus back.

Unfortunately, no matter how you or I may feel one day, the next day has the possibility of getting the better of us when we lose sight of who we are. It does not make you less of a Christian, as this is simply the way of life due to our sinful nature. When sin entered the world through Adam and Eve’s disobedience, it took away the perfect life on earth that God intended. This is why we must always keep heaven in our view, knowing that this life and its struggles are not here to stay.

From time-to-time, a short disconnect from the things that try to bring us down is necessary so that we are able to, without distraction and interruption, look to the One who can provide clarity and reassurance of who we are in Him. We must turn our attention to the One who comes to bridge the gap between our thoughts and emotions and learn to look to His truth about who we are. We must look to God’s Word and allow Him to do an identity check. We are to permit God to scan our heart and verify who He made us to be.

That may mean needing a quick refresher of sorts, within our memory banks, concerning the truth of God’s Word. Perhaps we must pick up that Bible and dust it off and do a little research to fill our souls with what actually is, versus looking through the filter of our emotions, which simply cannot be trusted.

I am God’s child. You are God’s child.

1 John 3:1a (NLT) says,
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!

Watch God Move

Can you truly still be in the midst of a storm and watch as God lifts you above the clouds, where you only see Him? I am a living witness that Yes, you can. That problem, that situation, has not vanished, but your view of God, Elohim, Mighty Creator, has changed. You can now see things from a different perspective, God’s view point. You are inherently aware of His intentions for your life. Biblical application is happening before your very eyes. When you look around, you can see the presence of Yahweh Shalom, The Lord is Peace, over everything that originally had you feeling in captivity. If you are not quite there, just yet, keep going. God is right by your side. Don’t hit reverse. Let God keep shifting you into the right direction […]

From Brokenness to Someone God Can Use

Can you truly still be in the midst of a storm and watch as God lifts you above the clouds, where you only see Him?

I am a living witness that Yes, you can. That problem, that situation, has not vanished, but your view of God, Elohim, Mighty Creator, has changed. You can now see things from a different perspective, God’s view point. You are inherently aware of His intentions for your life. Biblical application is happening before your very eyes. When you look around, you can see the presence of Yahweh Shalom, The Lord is Peace, over everything that originally had you feeling in captivity; feeling oppressed, living through experiences as though there was no way out.

If you are not quite there, just yet, keep going. God is right by your side. Keep learning the lessons that God has presented or allowed to increase your faith in Him. Put all of your hope in the salvation of our God through Jesus Christ. Live as God’s obedient child. Don’t allow distractions to cause you to turn back. You have come too far to give up now. Your personal Promised Land is waiting in the direction of God. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. Now that you know Him, you have a truth to hold on to and reflect upon, as you rely on Him to navigate you the rest of the way through.

God is holy; therefore, you be holy. If you let Him, He will teach you His ways.

1 Peter 1:13-16 (NLT) says,
13 So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

Will You? God’s Way?

(Intentional Prayer)
Pray the Scriptures: Lord, thank You for Your plan of redemption. It is because of Your presence and protective covering over my life that I have hope in a future with You. Thank You for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. That sacrifice has given me a new life in You. For Your Word says that this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever […]

(Intentional Prayer)

Pray the Scriptures – My Prayer:

Lord, thank You for Your plan of redemption. It is because of Your presence and protective covering over my life that I have hope in a future with You. Thank You for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. That sacrifice has given me a new life in You. For Your Word says that this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. However, anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

Death is no longer on my list of fears because I will be at peace with You in heavenly places. Because I do the will of God, I will live forever.

Will you? God’s Way?

Lord, I celebrate Your goodness and I come to You to acquire a knowledge of the way You have for me. Let me know Your ways so I may understand You more fully and continue to enjoy Your favor.

In Your infinite wisdom, You, Yahweh Yireh, The Lord will Provide, have made available help, support, advice, guidance, assistance, and the information that I need to live a righteous and sanctified life. I, nor all those who take the necessary time to seek after You, have to look any further than to Your Word that You so graciously have laid out for me.

Heavenly Benefits Package: You are Set Free

I have exciting news for you! When we accepted the offer of salvation that was made to us, we became recipients of a “Heavenly” benefits package. When we said Yes Lord, we received a benefits plan filled with exciting, reliable, and unique advantages to meet our every day needs […]

It’s your first day in your new position. Orientation has just begun. You are so worried about doing a great job and living up to your employers’ expectations that you’re not fully focused on this part. Your immediate goal is to impress everyone and really show them what you have to offer.

First stop, the Human Resources department. The HR representative is moving pretty fast. You hear words, but you aren’t really as attentive as you should be. You are not quite catching all of the benefits available to you. “Sign here please. Sign there. Here’s your copy.”

You make a mental note to read it all later; but for now, you’re ready to jump right in to the work of it all; what you feel is most critical.

I have exciting news for you! When we accepted the offer of salvation that was made to us, we became recipients of a “Heavenly” benefits package. However, it’s not our “works” that allow us to receive them, but God’s great love for us simply because we believe.

It may not be our first day in our new position in Christ, but guess what, we will never forget or misplace the benefits that are available to us. We have God’s Word (the Bible) as our handbook to review these rewards and blessings on a daily basis. We aren’t placed here to impress God or to show Him what we have to offer. We, His children, are the intended recipients of all of Christ’s work on the cross; his death, burial, and resurrection. We get to sit back and enjoy all of the benefits upon belief in Him. Once you have received Him as your personal savior and are ready to walk this life with Him as your guide, your benefits package is initiated, and your name is logged as a beneficiary.

Romans 8:17 (NLT) says,
And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

When we said Yes Lord, we received a benefits plan filled with exciting, reliable, and unique advantages to meet our everyday needs.

Let’s review our plan received on our first day with Christ.

Great Reward

(Intentional Prayer)
Pray the Scriptures: Lord, I love You. I love you even though I have never seen you. Though I do not see you now, Lord, I trust You. I rejoice with glorious, inexpressible joy. I am excited about this, God, because Your Word tells me that the reward for trusting You will be the salvation of my soul. OH, WHAT GREAT REWARD!

OH, WHAT GREAT REWARD!

Even during the times when I may not feel joy in the incidents of my day, I can yet be joyful in having a personal relationship with the keeper of my soul. God, Your Word says that You, The Lord himself watches over me! You, Lord stand beside me as my protective shade. I sincerely want to thank You Lord because without Your watchful hand of protection, I would surely drown.

Thank You for teaching me how to keep my focus on You! I will not be overcome by the tests and trials of this life, because You have it all under control. For You are the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for You? No, of course not! In Your great power, all things are possible.

I BELIEVE!

Today at work, I found myself dealing with a situation that required some action on my part.

Earlier in the week, I had been asked by a different area within my company to provide some support that was really outside of my job description. You see, there are some “political” things going on within the various divisions that is causing this area not to receive the support that they need. I was trying to provide what I really did not have within me at the moment to provide, because it was outside of the scope of my responsibilities.

For a couple of days, I struggled with this and was trying to do something that was taking over my day and keeping me from accomplishing the things that I really needed to accomplish; the actual tasks and assignments that I had been given to make happen. I finally had enough. I sought out the wisdom and advice of my supervisor regarding the situation. Her response to me was, “Don’t you worry about what you’re worrying about. That is my responsibility to deal with any backlash or issues that may arise from you needing to step back from something that you never should have taken on in the first place.” I started to feel some relief. See, I had been internalizing and carrying something that wasn’t even mine to carry. I needed to transfer that responsibility back to the area who is truly responsible for handling those situations so that I could refocus and get back to what I am designed to do, based on the job that I was hired for.

How often do we pick up and take on things that we are not responsible for. Oh, the weight of it all. It becomes too much. There has to be a place of relief and realignment so we can get back to doing what we are purposed to do.
