Are You Listening or “INDEPENDENTLY” Gliding through Life?

Spending quiet time with God is a way of finding out what He is speaking into our life. Every word received from heaven is not meant for someone else. Some are direct revelations, so that we personally will know where to go, what to do, how to think and what to say. Through avenues, such as blog’s, podcasts, video’s, for example, we have been given a platform by which we are able to share; but, let’s also find ourselves, better yet, let me find myself hearing what God specifically has for me and not independently gliding through life. Lord, speak to me. I have an ear to hear and a heart to receive. Show me what You want me to learn through this journey. Change me first, O God, so that I may show others the way […]

God is speaking to all of us, all the time. The question is not, to whom does God talk? The question is, who listens?

When There Isn’t A Way

God makes ways out of nothing. It’s what He does best. When He created the world, He simply spoke and it was so. God makes ways out of nothing. It’s what He does best. When He created the world, He simply spoke and it was so. With one Word, God changes the atmosphere, literally, and He irrefutably changes things within our individual life circumstances. Does every way that God makes for us happen instantly? In most scenarios, that is not the case. But that is where our faith kicks in. We also can reflect and remember what He has already done in our lives and in the lives of others.

For His desired will to be revealed, we must continue to wait on Him and walk through the process, and sometimes endure the breaking that must occur.

No matter what we currently see or what the end result gives the impression to be, God can make a way when there visibly isn’t one. He can break every chain that comes to block our way to Him.

Genesis 1:3 (NLT) says,
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Genesis 1:6-7 (NLT) says,
6 Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” 7 And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.

Genesis 1:9 (NLT) says,
Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened.

Genesis 1:11 (NLT) says,
Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened.

Genesis 1:14-15 (NLT) says,
14 Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. 15 Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened.

Genesis 1:20-21 (NLT) says,
20 Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:24 (NLT) says,
Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened.

And the very best, He saved for last.

Genesis 1:26-27 (NLT) says,
26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” 27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

God SAID IT and everything was so, based on His Word and authority over all creation.

Yahweh Yireh: The Lord Will Provide

Today I would like us to journey alongside with Yahweh Yireh, The Lord will Provide. Our God, the one and true living God, is Yahweh Yireh, the Lord will Provide. Now this is the God with whom I am intimately familiar. How about you? Again and again, there are times where it may seem to never be enough. God sees everyone of our needs […]

Yahweh Yireh: The Lord Will Provide

INTRODUCTION

As we continue to deepen our relationship with God, it is imperative that we truly know who He is. We know that He is our everything, Yes, but I would like to invite you to go on a little journey with me. The goal is to end this exploration with a better understanding and knowledge of who God is, through the study of some of the names of God.

It is my continued endeavor to grow in my faith in God and who He is, day by day. It is in the simple knowledge of who God is that my trust in Him will increase.

Today I would like us to journey alongside with Yahweh Yireh, The Lord will Provide.

DEVOTION

Our God, the one and true living God, is Yahweh Yireh, the Lord will Provide. Now this is the God with whom I am intimately familiar. How about you?

Again and again, there are times where it may seem to never be enough. Perhaps your area of not enough is in your finances. You see nothing but bills in view. Another area might be with your level of strength. You give and give and give and pour out to so many others in your life that there is never enough for yourself. Your time gets away from you and your patience is insufficient.

God sees every one of our needs, those we openly share and talk about with friends and loved ones, as well as, those needs we try to hide or prefer not to share with others. God, Yahweh Yireh, the Lord will Provide, supplies what we need in forethought to our problems or concerns, and will, in His sovereignty, bring those resolutions to light. When there appears to be no solution to be found, Yahweh Yireh is on the scene.

As our provider, there have been times when God has showed up for us when there was no other way out or through. Without his provision, situations could have potentially caved in around us.

But God!

I don’t know about you, but it is my desire to aspire to never forget the past ways that my provider, Yahweh Yireh, has made for me. He has shown to be a God who is faithful and even in a worse case scenario, His proven track record gives me comfort and peace.

Let’s take a look at Abraham and how the Lord provided for him.

In Genesis chapter 12, we read about how Abraham was called by God. God told Abraham to leave his native country, his relatives, and his father’s family, and go to the land that He would show him. God’s promise to Abraham was to make him into a great nation. God declared that Abraham would be blessed.

As we move forward to Genesis chapter 15, through a vision, God spoke to Abraham and told him not to be afraid. God would protect him and his reward would be great. Though God promised to make Abraham into a great nation, God had yet to give Abraham any descendants of his own. Abraham began trying to come up with a solution that he was responsible for. Abraham rationalized that one of his servants would be his heir. But Yahweh Yireh, The Lord Will Provide, had other plans.

5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.

GENESIS 15:5-6 NLT

It’s very important that we see here that Abraham (then known as Abram) believed the Lord. The things that God wants to provide to us, those things that go beyond our normal needs, are things in which we must believe, in order to receive.

Without belief, those shut doors cannot be opened.

God made a promise to give Abraham and Sarah a son, together, that would be their blood heir through which many descendants would follow. This disclosure of the promise was only the beginning, as this would ultimately lead to Jesus Christ, our High Priest. He provides a way that now allows us to go to God, the Father, for ourselves through Him.

Do Not Be Afraid! It’s in Process!

Psalm 27:1 (NLT) says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” When troubling situations come to block our view of God, we must focus on God’s sovereignty and remember the past deliverance’s. We are to find ourselves trusting in the God that we serve […]

Glad that’s over!

What am I referring to, you may be curiously asking yourself? I know. I know. You’re just about on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what’s to come. With every approaching holiday, that is sometimes my concern, as well, “what’s to come”.

I’m one of those people that doesn’t really care for holidays. For me, they often bring up feelings of despair and chaos from times past. These memories can keep me on high alert for the duration of the day. I never seem to really enjoy them. Sometimes, even feelings of loneliness or isolation begin to surface. Inaccurate thoughts are set in motion about how everyone else is enjoying their day, but I’m left with unwelcome recollections floating around in my mind.

My dad brought a message one time regarding “Trauma Triggers”. Satan likes to broadcast our bad memories on a repeat cycle. These trauma triggers take us back to those times and places where we were in great distress. They aren’t happening now; regardless, they are appearing to be real, and often hindering us from enjoying our lives. Our focus is off, which hinders us from seeing how far God has brought us and the miraculous works He has already performed in our lives.

A year ago, yesterday, I was at the beginning of what seemed to be a point of deliverance in my prodigal sons’ life. I spent most of the day looking in on him at a resource meant to provide help, in order to bring him up out of the low place he found himself in. That ended up not being the solution that I had hoped, and I awakened on yesterday feeling a little defeated.

Reflecting back over the year, the complete and total deliverance that I had prayed for still seems to be unanswered. I have been through many ups and downs, heartaches and disappointments during this wilderness experience. I felt like I should have, by now, seen much further progress in various areas; yet, all I can really see are baby steps.

I went to bed and rose just a bit agitated and down in my spirit. He is home and safe, but this past year was, in my mind meant to be a year of giant steps forward.

As the day progressed and he began to move about, a level of fear came over me. Holiday’s in the past meant dealing with so many unknowns. Will he come home? Will he be safe? Will the day’s events cause setback in the healing process? Those feelings became a bit overwhelming.

As time progressed, and the day appeared to be truly uneventful, I realized that I needed to release my fears and anxieties to the Lord, so that I do not remain stuck in this place for years to come.

As I look to God’s Word for a resolution to this recurring issue, I find several passages of Scripture that give me direction for what concerns me.

Psalm 118:6a (NLT) says,
The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.

El Shaddai: God Almighty

Today I would like us to journey alongside with El Shaddai, God Almighty.

DEVOTION

Our God, the one and true living God, is El Shaddai, God Almighty. With Him, nothing is impossible. When we seek Him for anything and everything, we can remain confident in His mighty power to deliver us, because He is El Shaddai, God Almighty.

In His mighty authority, God has already spoken into our lives who He created us to be, which was to be like Him, created in His very image. We are to be holy because He’s holy. We are made righteous through Jesus Christ. All we have to do is walk in it, act on it, and be about it. There is no problem that El Shaddai, God Almighty cannot solve. There is no situation that He cannot reverse. There is no place so low that He cannot reach.

God, himself, spoke of His own character. He acknowledged that He is God Almighty. There is no second guessing this. There is no room for interpretation and no place for doubt. Even in those moments where we don’t feel as though His mighty hand is being effective in every detail of our lives, God said it, and that’s enough.

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life.

GENESIS 17:1 NLT

Just as God directed Abram to serve Him, we, too, are to faithfully serve the Lord and live a blameless life before Him. Does this mean we are to be perfect? There is none perfect but El Shaddai, God Almighty. However, we are to continue daily to strive to this perfection, seeking to be like Christ, God’s Son, as they are one with the Holy Spirit. We want to have the attitude and nature of El Shaddai, God Almighty and to be obedient to His instructions. God is a God of order and we must live our lives in order with God’s purpose.

DEVOTION

Our God, the one and true living God, is El Roi, The God Who Sees Me. God sees us; where we have been, where we presently are, and where we are going. El Roi sees our heart, our pain, and our disappointment. He sees where we are weak, and He sends His abundance of strength to lift us up. El Roi sees the end, where we are headed, and the great works He has prepared for us, all for His glory. He sees us as victorious in Christ Jesus.

El Roi, The God Who Sees Me, watches over every aspect of my life.

Let’s take a look at the story of Hagar. Hagar was Sarai’s (later known as Sarah’s) maid, given by Sarai to her husband Abram (later known as Abraham) to conceive an heir. Hagar became Abram’s concubine and the mother of Ishmael.

Once Hagar became pregnant, she began to despise (dislike or maybe even possibly, hate) Sarai. As a result, Sarai went to Abram and complained about how she was being treated and the attitude that Hagar had against her. Sarai blamed Abram, even though it was her initial idea to give Hagar to her husband.

We, too, have possibly made decisions without seeking God first, and when the outcome was not as we had planned, we attempted to blame others. You see, Sarai did not pray and consult God for guidance and that led to confusion and just a big ole mess.

“Abram replied, “Look, she is your servant, so deal with her as you see fit.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she finally ran away.”

GENESIS 16:6 NLT

(Intentional Prayer)

Pray the Scriptures – My Prayer:

Lord, You have blessed me to see another day. You, Lord, are the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. Thank you, Elohim, God, Mighty Creator for never growing weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of your understanding. Thank You Lord for when I am weak, you give power to the weak, and when I am powerless in the circumstances of my life, you give strength to the powerless.

I AM NEVER ALONE!

I can rely on and put my total trust in You. Thank You that on this day, in this very moment, You are strengthening me and making a way on my behalf. I don’t have to see it. I just need to believe it, in Jesus’ name. For the cares of this life that come to bring me down are powerless against Your mighty hand.

Lord, I know that I don’t have to be afraid because You are with me. I don’t have to hang on to my discouragement because You are God. In the midst of it all, You strengthen me and help me. You hold me up with your victorious right hand.

THERE IS NOTHING TOO HARD FOR YOU!

DEVOTION

Our God, the one and true living God, is Elohim, God, Mighty Creator. God said it, and everything He spoke came into existence. This shows His ultimate power over the earth and all that is within it. The most amazing part for me is how He chose to make us in His own image, to be like Him. He blessed all that He made and commanded us to be fruitful and multiply. We were given full reign over all that God created. Oh how He loves us, with an abundant, unfailing love.

God designed all that we see, as His gift to us.

In the Word of God, we find a passage where Jacob had a dream. And in this dream, God spoke to him.

“…I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants. Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions – to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”

Genesis 28:13-15 NLT
